Some “abortion-alternative centers” have been able to receive funding for half the cost of the initial cost of the machine through the Catholic charity Knights of Columbus. However, if an organization’s Doctrinal Statement is specifically opposed to Catholic dogma, it cannot be considered. Even when centers qualify for such significant assistance and local doctors can be found to volunteer their time, pregnancy centers still struggle with the other costs, as would any low-budget, non-profit enterprise.
