Creative Costume Ideas for Your Pregnant Belly

While many women begin to see a lot of changes in their body throughout their pregnancy, it is important for them to have fun with it. Many women may get depressed or sad that they are getting bigger and require a larger dress size. It may even put a damper on holidays that were once fun, such as Halloween. However, by incorporating the growing baby belly into a costume, Halloween can be funner than it ever was.

If you can talk the father of the baby into doing couples, baby themed costumes, the possibilities are endless. You could probably make these costumes yourself or purchase/rent them. If you decide to make your own costume, the bun in the oven couldn’t be easier. Get a large box that is big enough to cover you and cut a hole through for your head. Paint the front with knobs and writing that replicates a real oven. Cut a door into the front so that you can open and close the oven door. Across the top of the box write “bun in the oven.” Have you husband dress up as the chef. It is an original costume that will definitely get a few chuckles.

If you want to incorporate your baby belly into the costume, there are also possibilities there. You can wear a white t-shirt and have your husband paint a huge eyeball over your belly. You can choose the color of the pupil, along with a scary, fun, happy, or cute look. He can even get elaborate and paint tiny, red veins and blood vessels throughout the eyeball.

You can also make your belly into a pumpkin. You can paint an orange pumpkin onto a white shirt. You can choose to decorate the pumpkin however you want. You could even add the “awe” factor by having “Mommy’s Little Pumpkin” painted above your pumpkin belly. To complete the costume, be sure to wear a green cap on your head for the pumpkin’s stem. You could even add to your outfit by dressing as a witch holding a pumpkin.

If you don’t want to have a full body costume (especially if it is going to be a warm night) you can simply choose to paint a shirt over your belly into anything you want. You can think of round items such as a basketball, volleyball, soccer ball, etc. for an original costume.

Whether you decide to create your own original costume, or to purchase/rent one, being pregnant shouldn’t take away from your fun on Halloween. In fact, it can definitely add to it.
